Built from regulatory obligations
Tested under examination conditions

Capability Benchmarks is a specialist certification body for sustainability assurance professionals. We develop professional credentials that address specific regulatory obligations, assess practitioners under examination conditions, and certify competence at the individual level.

WHAT WE DO

Two professional certifications. One standard of rigour.

We do not offer general sustainability training, introductory ESG courses, or awareness-level content. Every certification we develop begins with a regulatory obligation that creates professional demand, and is built backwards from the examination standard required to meet it.
FLAGSHIP CERTIFICATION
CS-AP — Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner
The practitioner-level credential for ISSA 5000 compliance. Covers the full sustainability assurance engagement lifecycle from acceptance through to reporting. Designed for experienced assurance practitioners preparing for the December 15, 2026 implementation deadline.
SPECIALIST CERTIFICATIOM
CS3-SCA — Certified Scope 3 Supply Chain Auditor
The specialist credential for practitioners conducting Scope 3 value chain assurance under CSRD and IFRS S2. Covers boundary logic, evidence hierarchy, materiality assessment, and regulatory defence specific to value chain emissions.

OUR APPROACH

Every certification is anchored to a regulatory standard

Our certifications are not designed from course content. They are designed from the examination. The assessment standard is defined first — anchored to authoritative regulatory requirements — and the curriculum is built to prepare practitioners for that standard. This ensures that every module, every lesson, and every assessment question traces directly to a specific professional obligation. The result is a credential that tests what practitioners must be able to do, not what they can recall.
WHY INDIVIDUAL CERTIFICATION

Competence must be verifiable at the individual level

The current market relies heavily on firm-level competence for sustainability assurance. A firm holds the engagement, assigns the team, and underwrites the work with its reputation. Individual practitioners often have no independently verifiable credential demonstrating their personal competence. This is the same structural gap that existed in financial audit before professional certification became standard infrastructure. Regulators, clients, and counterparties increasingly expect to verify competence at the individual level — not just at the firm level.Capability Benchmarks exists to provide that verification. Our certifications confirm that an individual practitioner has demonstrated, under examination conditions, the professional judgement required for a specific assurance domain.
The same transition that professionalised financial audit is now underway in sustainability assurance. Credentials are becoming the infrastructure. We are building that infrastructure.
